1964 World's First Hovercraft Race
Participant Trophy
Awarded to each participant at the completion of the World's
First Hovercraft Race, this original trophy has survived to pay tribute
to the eleven 1964
participants, the pioneers of hovercraft racing.
This side of the rotating medallion is inscribed "Royal
Aeronautical Society, C.B. [Canberra Branch] - Worlds First G.E.M. [Ground
Effect Machine] Race."
This particular trophy was awarded to the Australian Air
Cushion Vehicles Development team, later to become Neoteric Hovercraft,
Inc.
